Why use Age Calculator
Enter a date of birth and the calculator returns the age in completed years, plus the extra months and days since the last birthday. It also shows the total days, weeks and months lived, and how many days remain until the next birthday and which age that birthday brings. The Age as of field opens on today's date, but you can set it to any date on or after the birth date to see how old someone was at a past event or will be on a future one. A person born on June 15, 1990 is 36 years, 3 months and 23 days old on October 8, 2026.

Adult, current age

Child under two, age in months

Total months is the figure childcare and medical forms usually mean by age in months.
Age at a past event

Born on a leap day

2027 has no February 29, so the next birthday is shown as March 1.
On the birthday itself

Ages for other birth dates differ by a day or two because the number of leap days in the span changes. To find your own date, add the day count to your date of birth with the Add or Subtract Days tool.
How exact age in years, months and days is worked out
Years = reference year - birth year. Months = reference month - birth month. Days = reference day - birth day. If Days is negative, take 1 from Months and add the length of the month before the reference date. If Months is negative, take 1 from Years and add 12.
Take a birth date of June 15, 1990 and a reference date of October 8, 2026. Years: 2026 - 1990 = 36. Months: 10 - 6 = 4. Days: 8 - 15 = -7, so one month is borrowed: Months becomes 3 and Days becomes -7 + 30 = 23, because September, the month before the reference date, has 30 days. The answer is 36 years, 3 months and 23 days. Total months is Years x 12 + Months, here 435. Total days lived is a separate, direct count of calendar days, and Total weeks is that count divided by 7 and rounded down.
Leap day birthdays and other ways of counting age
This calculator uses the international convention: you are 0 at birth and gain a year on each anniversary of your birth date. That is the age used on passports, school forms, pension rules and most other official paperwork.
A February 29 birthday has no anniversary in three years out of four. The tool shows the next birthday as March 1 in those years. The law is not uniform on this: England and Wales treat a leap-day birthday as falling on March 1 in common years, while New Zealand's driver licensing rules use February 28. If a legal deadline or entitlement depends on the exact day, check the rule where you live.
Traditional East Asian age reckoning counts a newborn as 1 and adds a year at New Year instead of on the birthday. South Korea adopted the international method for most legal and administrative purposes in June 2023. This site has a separate Korean Age Calculator for that system.
