What Shoe Size Converter does
A men's US 9 is a UK 8.5, an EU 42.5 and a 27 cm foot. A women's US 8 is a UK 6, an EU 39 and a 25 cm foot. This tool looks your size up in a men's or women's chart and returns the matching row in all four systems, then shows the whole chart underneath. You can start from a US, UK or EU size or from your foot length in centimetres. If the number you enter is not a listed size, it returns the closest one and says so. The charts are general references; a specific brand's own chart always takes priority.

| 8.5 | 8 | 42 | 26.5 |
| 9 | 8.5 | 42.5 | 27 |
| 9.5 | 9 | 43 | 27.5 |

| 13 | 12.5 | 47 | 31 |

There are no half sizes above US 12 in this chart, so 12.5 and 13.5 are matched to a neighbouring size.

Worked conversions, including sizes between rows
Real inputs and what the tool returns for them.
US men's to EU
Sizing Men's, From system US, Size 10
Equivalent sizes: US 10, UK 9.5, EU 44, Foot length 28 cm
EU to US women's
Sizing Women's, From system EU, Size 39
Equivalent sizes: US 8, UK 6, EU 39, Foot length 25 cm
Starting from a measured foot
Sizing Men's, From system CM (foot length), Size 26.8
Closest listed match for that CM size: US 9, UK 8.5, EU 42.5, Foot length 27 cm
26.8 cm is not a row in the chart, so the nearest foot length, 27 cm, is used.
An EU size the chart skips
Sizing Women's, From system EU, Size 37.5
Closest listed match for that EU size: US 6.5, UK 4.5, EU 37, Foot length 23.5 cm
37.5 sits exactly halfway between EU 37 and EU 38. On a tie the tool returns the smaller size, so compare both rows and consider the larger one.
A size beyond the chart
Sizing Men's, From system US, Size 15
Closest listed match for that US size: US 14, UK 13.5, EU 48, Foot length 32 cm
The men's chart stops at US 14, so anything larger is matched to the last row. That result is not a real conversion for a US 15.
How to measure your foot length in cm
Foot length is the one figure that means the same thing in every country, so it is the most reliable starting point.
- Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, wearing the socks you would wear with the shoes.
- Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe, which is not always the big toe.
- Measure from the wall edge of the paper to the mark in centimetres.
- Repeat for the other foot and use the longer measurement.
- Enter that number with From system set to CM (foot length).
Why US, UK and EU sizes do not convert with one formula
The systems count in different units from different starting points. UK and US sizes step up by a barleycorn, which is one third of an inch, per full size. EU sizes step up by a Paris point, which is two thirds of a centimetre. A barleycorn is about 8.47 mm and a Paris point about 6.67 mm, so the two scales drift against each other and never line up for long. That is why EU 41 is followed by EU 42 in the men's chart while the US column moves by a half size each row.
Shoemakers also build each model on its own last, the foot-shaped form the shoe is made around, and add different amounts of toe room. Two shoes with the same printed size can fit differently. Treat any general chart, including this one, as a starting estimate and confirm against the brand's chart when one exists.
