Public IP versus private IP
Every device on your home network has a private IP address, typically starting 192.168. or 10., used only for traffic between devices on that network — your router, laptop and phone each have their own. Your router itself then shares a single public IP address with the wider internet on behalf of every device behind it, a process called network address translation. This tool shows that shared public address, not any individual device's private one, which is why every device on the same network sees an identical result here.
Why the location is only approximate
Location is inferred from which internet provider and routing infrastructure carries your connection, using databases that map ranges of IP addresses to a likely city or region. It is not GPS, and it can be wrong or imprecise, particularly on mobile networks where an entire region's traffic may route through one metropolitan hub, or when a VPN deliberately routes your connection through a server in another country entirely.
